Yes, I agree with you to a certain extent...I don't have, nor do I care to download ringtones..but I will admit, I kind of liked my classical tones that I have used b-4, (they come with the phone). It also identifies your'e phone from other rings..remember so many people have cell phones nowadays, sometimes you don't know if it's your'e phone or someone near you...so I think it serves a purpose to a certain extent, and I do think it's a bit "trendy" now..maybe some people are showing off etc..but maybe some people just want to let you know a bit more about themselves by that little ring tone....
